Offshore wind power helps UK reach record energy generation from renewables in second quarter

Almost a third of the UK's electricity was generated by renewables in the second quarter of 2017, according to government statistics - with wind producing more than any other clean energy source. New figures from the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy covering April to June show a record 29.8% was generated by renewable energy sources, beating the previous record of 26.9% set in the first quarter of the year.
